SUMMARY:Announcement: Healing Racism\, Baha'is San Jose
DESCRIPTION:The Baha’is of San Jose have continued to hold regular devotional\, educational and consultative gatherings on Healing Racism in America and would like to invite participation from the broader faith community. \nThey are the third Friday of each month in a Zoom conference and include prayers\, reflection on the nature of racism\, the principles of justice and racial unity\, and consultation on action we can take as individuals and as members of a wider community. \nHere is the copy from our website (www.sanjosebahai.org): \n“Be anxiously concerned with the needs of the age ye live in and center your deliberations on its exigencies and requirements.” — Baha’u’llah \n“Know ye not why We created you all from the same dust? That no one should exalt himself over the other. Ponder at all times in your hearts how ye were created. Since We have created you all from one same substance it is incumbent on you to be even as one soul\, to walk with the same feet\, eat with the same mouth and dwell in the same land\, that from your inmost being\, by your deeds and actions\, the signs of oneness and the essence of detachment may be made manifest.” – Bahá’u’llah \nBuilding on the Healing Racism in America seminar held in February\, the Baha’is of San Jose are hosting a monthly prayer circle for the healing of racism in our country and community. Please join us to pray and contemplate practices we can adopt in our lives and in our community to further the oneness of humanity. \nDue to the current health crisis\, we will be hosting these events online the third Friday of every month beginning Friday\, July 17 at 7:30 pm. \nThe link for the gathering is: \nZoom Link:\nhttps://bit.ly/sjraceamitydevotionals

SUMMARY:WIHW- Charter For Compassion- RISE Sector Forums - Universal Healing: Awakening the Heart of Humanity
DESCRIPTION:Universal Healing: Awakening the Heart of Humanity: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDates: February 1 to 7\, 2023 (everyday)\nTime: 9am PST\n\nDuring World Interfaith Harmony Week\, and during the first week of February in 2023\, many in the world will focus on our common humanity—explore grave issues that we share and for which we need to find solutions. Special dialogues will occur between groups of different faiths and those opposed to organized religion to search for paths of understanding. Religious and spiritual practices will be shared and experienced\, and each participating individual in these practices can expect to be enriched and changed and come closer to realizing that our similarities are stronger and more prevalent than our differences.\n\nThis year to celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week (2023) Charter for Compassion and the RISE Team -Religion\, Interfaith and Spirituality for Everyone- have created a special experience for you: a daily offering of healing from different traditions of the world. Please register for these events below.\n\nThe Heart of Humanity is an Ocean of infinite Love and Peace. It is now time for Universal Healing: awakening to this one Heart\, so that we may all be healed. Just as we can open up to the same sky through windows of different shapes and colors\, there are many pathways to awakening and healing.\n\nThis unique 7-day workshop encompasses healing traditions from different religions and cultures. Using the 7 chakras as windows to Love and Peace\, inspired presenters will offer insights and practices to purify and heal our physical\, mental\, emotional and spiritual energy fields. They will serve us by facilitating the clearing up of blocks that come in the way of reclaiming oneness with infinite Love and Peace.\n\nEach daily session lasting an hour may include breath work\, chanting\, meditation\, art work and spiritual exercises.\n\nOur intention is to awaken our higher consciousness so that we may connect to the other through the heart\, and be of authentic service to God’s magnificent creation.\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDay 1 –Root Chakra with Steve Kramer – Earth Based Spirituality \nDelving deeper into our connection to Mother Earth \nTo find peace in today’s chaotic world it is helpful to come from a place of being centered\, being grounded. This opens us up to the pathway of healing. Today\, we will be working with the ROOT CHAKRA to purify and heal our connection with Gaia\, Mother Earth\, Pachamama.  The root chakra\, an energy center located on the pelvic floor\, is the lowest of the seven main chakras. When we get in touch with its energy\, we can engage in a more loving union with Mother Earth through grounding. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDay 2 – Sacral Chakra with Mérida McCarthy – Spiritual and Social Psychology \nDelving Deeper into our Relationships and Creation center \nSecond center is the Lower creative center (superior creative center is 5th chakra) Women “create” babies\, and personal life projects are “born” here\, then developed through the will in the 3rd chakra\, the love and passion of the 4th chakra\, and finally manifested and communicated through the 5th. You may feel detached from your own emotions as well as the emotions of the people around you\, or you may feel isolated and anxious to be alone and lonely. It’s a vicious cycle that can cause loneliness as well as anxiety. There’s a feeling of not belonging anywhere. Find out how to heal these energies here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDay 3 – Solar Chakra with Jamal Rahman – Sufi Traditions \nDelving deeper into our emotions of joy and sorrows \nThe third Chakra is the seat of our emotions. This Chakra can easily become congested and clenched because we tend to avoid and deny our difficult feelings. The abandoned feelings end up knotted and twisted in the area just above our navel- the third Chakra. \nThrough a Sufi practice called “Sacred Holding\,” we shall aspire\, with mercy and gentleness\, to acknowledge\, heal and integrate the painful feelings. A transformation might occur: anger transmutes into inner vigor\, fear into mindfulness\, sadness into empathy. \nWe shall also explore the role of playfulness and laughter to soften the sharp edges of our wounded feelings. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDay 4 – Heart Chakra with Donna Mills \nDelving deeper in The Right to Love and Be Loved \nWhat do we really know about LOVE taught to us in an era of domination? Please join us on the fourth day of The Charter for Compassion Interfaith week\, “Walk Through the Chakras.” The Charter has adopted “Healing Ourselves\, Healing the World\, Delving Deeper” as our 2023 focus. In this session\, we will look at the wholeness and holiness of the Heart Chacka\, including aspects of the mind\, the body\, and the spirit. We will delve deeper into new narratives of LOVE co-created in partnership as salve to domination. At its core\, LOVE is the living oneness of vital energy\, and the most effective way to heal a world shrouded in grief. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDay 5 – Throat Chakra with Rev. Jan Chase and Rev. Dr. Richard Rose \nDelving deeper in Communication through Breath and Prayer. \nThe Throat Chakra is located in the area of the throat. This energy center represents our source of verbal expression and the ability to speak our highest truth. The spoken word through the Throat Chakra is a powerful tool we have which can be used to build “Heaven on Earth”\, Martin Luther King\, Jr’s. “Beloved Community.” To use its power\, we need to open and develop our other chakras as well. In this session we show that the Chakra system works to connect heaven and earth through us. This not only occurs in eastern religions\, but in a more hidden way through the western religion of Christianity\, where the Lord’s Prayer of Jesus\, actually paves the way for this inner spiritual opening. This session contains both didactic material and meditative practices to induce the opening of our holy energy centers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDay 6 – Brow Chakra with Kiran Bali \nDelving Deeper into our knowledge\, wisdom and intuition. \nThe Brow Chakra also called the third eye is the center of perception and command. It directs our sight and everyday awareness of the world. Our consciousness is located here. “We” are here. We do not need to seek truth; it is always in front of us. But in order to recognize it a person needs an open\, pure consciousness and clear thoughts. While our mind remains cloudy\, like a dirty mirror\, we see everything hazily and unclearly. It is only in a purified mind and mature consciousness that wisdom and spiritual knowledge can be broadened. Learn more about its healing in this session. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDay 7 – Crown Chakra with Morgana Sythove and Donna Mills \nDelving deeper into the Spiritual connection \nUntil we are capable of anchoring our consciousness in the Brow Chakra our mind oscillates constantly between the human Chakras. All individuals travel along their own pathway\, have their own history and their own experiences – but at the end all inevitably reach the same goal\, the same truth and the same reality. However\, until then it is a long journey. Spirituality is about connection and being aligned with Mother Earth and the Universal Energy that every tradition looks toward. Delve deeper into spirituality and join us today! \nNOTE: Session 7 includes a private forum after the closing words\, we will stop recording\, you are welcome to stay on! \n  \nREGISTER HERE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorld Interfaith Harmony Week \n  \n2023

Grudzen has served as President of Global Ministries University since 2001 and has developed graduate interfaith education programs in collaboration with universities and research institutes in the United States\, Africa\, Turkey\, India\, and Thailand. Grudzen earned his Ph.D. in the history of Christianity and Islam from Columbia University.  He received a John Templeton award in 2003 for the development of the first scientific curriculum by Christian and Muslim scholars for the first major universities in Europe. He did this research in collaboration with the Ian Ramsey Center at Oxford University. In 2010 Grudzen co-led the largest American academic delegation ever sponsored by the US State Department for interfaith and intercultural dialogue with faculty members ‘at several Egyptian Universities throughout Egypt including Al Azhar University in Cairo\, the leading Sunni Muslim education center in the world. \nBeginning in 2012\, Grudzen and Global Ministries Universities undertook a major effort to combat religious extremism in the coastal areas of Kenya where there had been frequent terrorist incidents.  The project brought together religious leaders and educators from both the coastal region and throughout Kenya to train these leaders in interfaith dialogue and methods of conflict resolution.  The success of this program led to its integration  with the Tangaza University Institute for Interreligious Dialogue and Islamic Studies in 2019. In 2021 Grudzen and his wife\, Marita Grudzen\,  co-chaired the US Hub for a three-day interfaith conference on Pope Francis’ encyclical\, Fratelli Tutti\, co-sponsored with Tangaza Univesity and other Christian and Muslim universities in Kenya and Indonesia in collaboration with the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue at the Vatican.  Over 3000 participants took part in this conference from 15 different countries. A second international\, interfaith conference is scheduled for February of 2023. Grudzen has authored or co-authored several books on the role of interfaith dialogue and collaboration in promoting peace and reconciliation across the world. \nAbout Marita Grudzen: \nMarita Grudzen\, MHS\, is Associate Director Emerita and a founding member of the Stanford Geriatric Education Center\, a national center in ethnogeriatrics within Stanford University School of Medicine. Ms. Grudzen was co-recipient with Chaplain Bruce Feldstein\, MD\, of the Templeton Award(2001-06) for the medical school required curriculum they developed\, Spirituality and Meaning in Medicine. Ms. Grudzen chaired a qualitative study of diverse healing practices in six ethnic minority populations in the Bay Area which was translated into health professional educational programming. She also developed a relationship of trust with the Afghan leadership in Fremont\, CA during a series of three focus groups she co-led with the Afghan elder women’s community. Most recently\, Marita co-developed the curriculum for the Fremont Community Ambassador Program for Seniors\, and 25 hour Hospital to Home Transition training for volunteers from the Ethnic Minority Senior Services Consortium of San Jose\, CA. Marita has received an international award from the Prime Minister of Turkey for her contribution to the First International Care Congress in Istanbul from May 2-8\, 2005. \nSince August of 2011\, every year Ms. Grudzen with her husband have co-developed\, implemented\, evaluated and revised a 40 hour Interfaith Leadership Program in partnership with Christian\, Muslim and African Indigenous Religious leaders in Kenya. Recruiting local expert and community leaders as co-presenters they returned every August until the current Covid era and maintain communication through the year with their interfaith partners through Skype and email.
