SUMMARY:Preparing For Ramadan This Year with 3 Webinars
DESCRIPTION:You can watch these three webinars videos NOW! \nAs the month of Ramadan swiftly approaches\, ING (Islamic Networks Group) offer the following programs to provide parents\, teachers and employers a better understanding of fasting\, as well as suggestions for how to best accommodate Muslim students and essential workers who are fasting during this month. \nMuslim Teens Speak: Balancing School\, Ramadan\, and COVID-19 \nWebinar link: https://bit.ly/31FoyET \nPanelists: Humza (INGYouth Speaker)\, Raza (INGYouth Speaker)\, Soha (INGYouth Speaker)\, Omar (INGYouth Speaker). Moderator: Ishaq Pathan (ING Bay Area Director). \nStudents have faced untold challenges switching to fully remote learning in the last year. As we approach Ramadan\, which begins this year on Tuesday\, April 13\, while many schools are still social distancing and others are beginning to open\, Muslim students may experience additional strain on their attention and mental health. To address these needs\, view this special webinar where we hear from Muslim teens directly on what they have been experiencing\, and how they can be best supported while balancing school\, social distancing\, and fasting. The webinar can be viewed on Facebook and YouTube. For handouts for parents and educators pertaining to this webinar\, please register here. \nSupporting Muslim Essential Workers During Ramadan \nWebinar link: https://bit.ly/3cJLBV7 \nPanelists: Lt.Yousef Shansab (Commander\, Union City Police Department)\, Hazem Tabahi (Vice-President\, Pita Inn Chain in Chicago Area)\, and Dr. Hasan Shanawani (Board Chairman\, American Muslim Health Professionals). Moderator: Rahimeh Ramezany (ING Program Manager). \nEssential workers have been on the frontlines of providing critical services to communities across the country\, including Muslim doctors\, police officers\, teachers\, and frontline workers. It is through their courage and dedication that the rest of society has been able to quarantine safely. As we approach the second Ramadan while social distancing\, view our conversation with Muslim essential workers from various sectors to discuss their experiences\, and how the public can support them through the most important spiritual time for Muslims. The webinar can be viewed on Facebook and YouTube. For handouts for workers and employers pertaining to this webinar\, please register here. \nRamadan Inclusion: How Educators Can Accommodate Their Muslim Students During the Spiritual Season \nWebinar link: https://bit.ly/3mgAJBn \nPanelists: Tony Thurmond (California State Superintendent of Public Instruction)\, Brisa Camacho-Lovell (ING Bay Area Board Member & Educator)\, and Ishaq Pathan (ING Bay Area Director). \nModerator: Tabassum Haleem (ING CEO). \nEducators have their work cut out for them in balancing all the needs of their diverse students\, and this is the case more than ever as we hit the one-year anniversary of social distancing safety measures. For educators who have Muslim students in their classrooms\, they may understand the importance of Ramadan\, but may not feel equipped to properly support students participating in fasting and other special rituals of the month. View our last webinar in our Ramadan preparation series where speakers discuss the challenges Muslim students may face while fasting\, and best practices for parents and educators during the fast-approaching month of Ramadan. The webinar can be viewed on Facebook and YouTube. For handouts for parents and educators pertaining to this webinar\, please register here.

DESCRIPTION:A MIGHTY FORCE FOR JOY  Global Celebration of Compassion \nAUGUST 14-15; 5:00 pm – 5:00 pm Pacific Time \nWe hunger for peace and we need to hear good news.  On August 14-15\, the Charter for Compassion webithon will be offering both.  We will delve into a little history to reflect on the road we have traveled.  There will be stories\, poems\, songs and presentations from partner organizations\, individuals who have supported the Charter as artists and musicians and certainly from the frontlines of our compassionate community and city initiatives.  There is a lot of positive energy that is being shared in the world and our 24-hour webithon is just a preview of what is happening near and far.  We want to offer you moments of reflection\, joy and perhaps a nudge to get involved locally to spread compassionate action locally so its threads can spread globally. \nOf course\, we want to make the webithon free for all\, but we also want to entice you to contribute to keeping the work of the Charter for Compassion on-going.  We will be asking for donations throughout the 24-hours\, but only through placards that will appear on your screen to remain you about the possibility of contributing.  There will be a chat box on Facebook going through the 24-hours.  Let us hear from you.  Please tell your friends\, colleagues\, organizations to which you are close to share the link. Most of the spots you will see are pre-recorded since we don’t have the vast capability to technically host live presentations\, but we assure you that will not diminish the power of the moment.  Looking forward to your presence on August 14-15 and your support.  Register now. \n
