SUMMARY:Visit with students from India
DESCRIPTION:A group of twelve students from India (ages 18 to 24) will be visiting several cities in the USA this Summer as part of a trip organized by JAINA\, the Federation of Jain Associations in North America\, an umbrella organization that preserves and shares Jain Dharma and the Jain Way of Life. \nSiVIC and the Jain Center of Northern California invite local residents\, especially young people\, to join these young people for a program and vegetarian lunch at the Jain Center in Milpitas. The program will include time for participants to say a few words about their activities in the Interreligious/ interfaith arena. \nRSVP to Girish Shah at girish.shah@sivicouncil.org to ensure adequate food for the lunch. \nPlease extend this invitation to youth and young adults in your own community.

DESCRIPTION:It’s not about religion; it’s about relationships.” – Sean Rose \n\nIn 2009\, a delegation from Silicon Valley traveled to Melbourne\, Australia to accept the designation of “Partner City” bestowed by the Parliament of the World’s Religions\, the world’s largest interreligious gathering. One of the outcomes of that recognition was the creation of SiVIC in 2011. \nParliament Partner City Delegation\, 2009 \n\n\nThis year\, the next Parliament of the World’s Religions will be meeting in Salt Lake City\, Utah\, from October 15-19. We invite you to come and discover what the Parliament is\, hear from those who have attended in the past\, and find out what is planned for the upcoming Parliament. \nThe Parliament of the World’s Religions is the largest international interreligious gathering\, bringing together 10\,000 attendees from 80 countries and 50 religious and spiritual traditions. Keynote speakers will include the Dalai Lama\, Karen Armstrong of the Charter for Compassion\, More information and registration is available at the Parliament website. \n\nOpen to the public.
